know nothinbg about CUPS and GimpPrint, but I'll dig.

CUPS is the Unix back-end to Print Center in OS X 10.2 and better; and GimpPrint is built into 10.3, you just see print drivers that say (for example):


"HP Laserjet 4 Series CUPS+Gimp-Print 4.2.5"

in the list of possible drivers for the printer.

The same appear if you install GP in 10.2, except you have to hold down the Option key when installing the prionter to get to the extra GP lists.
It's documented pretty well on the gimp print web site.


If the printer isn't listed, then you'll have to do some command-line tweaking, but it's doable.
