For some reason, I cannot find anything about ethernet on the OS9 system,
not anywhere. This is really weird. I cannot find anything on the Apple site
or anything on the networking sites everyone has so kindly sent me.
While I have not read all the other responses to your original post, I have just checked the System Folders on my several older Macs still running OS 9.x, including a Beige G3 DT, all Ethernet-networked for file sharing and printing with no problems. The following extensions are present in all their respective Extension Folders:
Apple Enet (Document) Apple Enet DLPI Support (Shared Library) EnetShimLib (Shared Library)
If your Beige G3 233/266 Desktops are missing one or more of these Extensions, this will explain your problem. These were all installed automatically with the OS. If somehow you cannot find these on your OS 9.x Install CDs, I can send the relatively small files (520k, 84k, 24k, respectively) to you as e-mail attachments.
