gee, i think the g5 case is beautiful, though more "industrial" than the g4's which were very nice. the g5 case also makes much more sense for heat dissipation (no extra layer of plastic preventing radiant/conductive heat exchange with the air and depending solely on fans) as is the internal layout other than the lack of drive bays and my own desire for more pci slots (though i don't have one, i have drooled over the specs). i really like the minimalist but heavy duty aluminum panels. more importantly, apple finally, finally hired a really good hardware designer who could have made the g4 line much faster and better in many ways. i'm sure they are using the same case designers. it's probably also considerably less expensive since it has fewer parts and apple didn't have to make so many custom molds for custom plastic parts.
i really prefer all metal cases for several reasons though i also like steal as it provides better magnetic shielding of lower frequency emissions (the g4 cases are largely steel under the plastic) (and there is as much evidence that rf or radio waves cause cancer as there is that cigarettes cause cancer etc., and that exposure to radio waves causes genetic damage and more immediate health problems in some people who are more sensitive to it, cell phones and cell towers are bad, very very bad for your' health but as is always the case the industry has done a good job of paying for garbage studies that show the opposite of those studies funded by people who didn't have an ax to grind or a financial interest in the results, never blindly believe what the person selling you something says).
