There's a company selling a 24x16x24 CD burner that fit the original iMacs and was much faster than the 4X max burners that would connect to the slow USB ports: http://www.mcetech.com/imacrw.html But since this iMac has a FireWire port you could get a fast external CD or DVD burner for less than the internal one, probably. The one benefit of the internal drive (original or the MCE burner) is that it is bootable, I don't know if you can boot off a firewire CD/DVD drive on a Harmonied iMac. The original iMac's internal CD is actually a laptop CD drive, a desktop drive would be too big. I've heard many people say you could probably use just about any laptop drive in there, but don't recall seeing anyone actually do it.
