Hi Listers

I have a G4 iMac whose Vram/Graphics chip shows occasional errors in the
system log and freezes the machine solid from time to time. My hypothesis
is that it appears to fail when the ambient room temperature gets to about
30 Celsius (which happens often in summer in Australia). RAM, CPU etc all
work fine. The fan seems OK and moves air through the vents at the top.

I believe that the graphics chip is soldered to the motherboard so there is
nothing I can do about that, but ....

1. Is there an app that will read/record internal temperatures to confirm
that the problem is heat related?

2. Would a dismantle/clean be worth the effort?

3. Is there a way to check/clean/improve the internal airflow without the
need to dismantle?

Peter
