Well I'm getting back to Macs after a long hiatus. I've had a G3/266 on the floor of my computer room ever since my ex-wife stopped using it. I have tentative plans to write some software that will be somewhat OS portable. So I have decided to upgrade this beast to OS X if I can without spending a lot of money. So three questions:

(1) I've looked on the list archive, but I can find little help about what OS X version I can run on this Mac. Is there a web page or an email thread somewhere that explains my options?

(2) Does OS X come with C and C++ compilers? Assembler?

(3) Prices for either of the above?

I've programmed Macs professionally in the past, so I'm familiar with IDEs like CodeWarrior.

regards and thanks,
-jim
