That's part of my point, but not all of it.
Having dealt with Windows exhaustively for several years (mostly fixing other people's machines) I know what it's like to have to install, then install, then install, then install, then INSTALL...
You start with the operating system, then you start doing all the updates, then there are the specialty items (that try to make Windows more usable and user friendly).
Suppose that in 6 months a really cool Linux distribution is released for the Mac Mini. But to install it I need to partition my hard drive. Or what if my drive dies and I need a new one (it happens). Or what if there's an update that allows me to replace my 80 Gig drive with a 400 Gigabyte model (or a Terrabyte!). I'd have to go through the same kind of process I do when I deal with Win98.
Apple COULD have given us the option of using stuff we were familiar with (Launcher, app switcher, etc) by adding those options onto the Dock preferences. They chose not to. This irks me.
Yes, eventually I will get used to the Dock. Meanwhile my productivity has slowed down to a crawl as I try to remember how do think I used to do without thinking.
