Bad assumption...if that 300 is the original processor then that's not the case, only 233 MHz CPU's shipped as rev1, iirc.

yes. The Beige only accepts lower density ram.
What memory threshhold is advisable to run OSX?
Bare minimum is 256 mb, 512 is better, 768 (the most you can stuff into the beige) is best.
