i've just moved from a imac 233 to an entry level mac mini, and i've found it to be well worth the move. get more ram tho, whatever you can afford. it is user installable, i'm planing on putting some more in. my sony LCD 15" is a VGA and is lovely to use, no problems with it.

overall your brother will fall over when he sees how small, quiet and fun it is, not too mention soooooo much faster :}

Well my brothers iMac is heading to the grave. So hes asked me to assist
him in choosing a new computer.

Sorry, I havent been reading the threads regarding the Mini because I dont
have an interest. So would appreciate any info the list could provide.

Hes upgrading from an iMac 233, so Im leaning towards an entry level Mac
Mini for $494.00. But the 256 MB of ram concerns me. The MacMall site states
that memory is not a user-installable item. Is this a challenge? Ive read
that its not hard to crack the case to install memory? Is there a web site
with how to pictures.

They want an extra $100 for the 1.40 GHz processor and 80GB hard drive. Did
I read that these minis use 2.5 HD? So that doesnt seem like such a
rip. Any opinions?

Will appreciate any other input regarding the Mini.

Thanks folks!
