Hi list --

This question probably falls into the "everybody knows the answer already"
category (sorry!): is it necessary to install separate software to burn CDs?
I'm running 9.2.2 on a B&W G3 at the moment, want to move on to OS X once I
get some more RAM & a bigger HD into it, AND to get a CDRW that will
function on one OS or the other. Tried a Sony internal that would NOT run at
all no matter how the jumpers were set (much less burn anything, never got
far enough even to test it out) so have been comparison shopping for an
external model but have the hazy recollection that without Toast it won't
function either. What's the story?

TIA.

Best,
Victoria
