I believe what you're getting is the debugger (with older Macs, you'd
get there via the 'programmer's switch'). You need to be running a
debugger command interpreter to do anything at the prompt. The only one
I'm aware of is MacsBug, which runs as a system extension. It should
still be available as a free d/l from Apple.
