VERY interesting. Just checked mine and it is 83. I assume yours is a 66?
Do you know what that chip does, exactly?

I've a rev 1 minitower with an 83, and a rev 2 desktop with a 66. Grackle (Motorola MPC106) is the memory and PCI controller. It's responsible for bridging the system bus and the PCI bus. I believe the system ROM also hangs off it somewhere.


You can also find this chip (at varying speed ratings) in the B&W G3, Yikes G4 and early iMacs.
