Wayne, yes it is normal. Macs don't usually have VGA monitor ports on them. You can probably locate a Mac-VGA adapter plug that will convert the Mac video signal into something that the VGA monitor can read. Otherwise, find yourself a video card like the iX3D Twin-Turbo card made by iXMicro. Will be an eBay item most likely.

Hi , First post, I have a G3 266 Beige desktop computer with an Apple
colorsync monitor, the monitor is starting to darken up with age(at a guess)
so I went to plug in another 17" monitor I had laying around and found that
the plug is different, as a newbie to Mac is this standard, ie Mac have 2
layer 15 pin and pc have 3 layer 15 pin, my question is there an adapter for
these or can I install a video card into one of the PCI slots and fix this
problem or do I have to purchase a new Mac monitor.
