Hey Bruce

Hmmmm when I first started up Mail and tried to import, I didn't have OE for
a choice. What is "iirc"?

Oh crap, that may be a Panther Mail thing; if you're running Jaguar it may be different.

'iirc' = 'If I Recall Correctly'

I don't know how to make sure the backside cache is enabled in OSX, guess I
should do some more reading on Sonnet's web page, Eh?

I know on my Beige I used PowerLogix cache Controller X with my OWC upgrade; the Sonnnet should have come with something. Without the backside cache running a G4 system goes reeeeeeaaaaaallll slooooow.

And Dave, I cannot get into Classic at ALL - it tries very hard and almost
gets there, but gets stuck at the very end (the progression bar just stays
there and nothing else happens).

Are you using your old OS 9 folder? Try starting with minimal extensions. You can get there via the System Preferences Classic settings.

Another funny thing on OSX - I have a scanner and my dvd-rom drive on a scsi
card and the scanner shows up like 5 times as ID 5, the dvd-drive only once
as ID4. I remember way back when if you put something on ID0 it would show
up a million times on your desktop, is that a variation of that? Works
great, however.

I've seen scanners that did that. Our Nikon slide scanner was a PITA that way.

Can I use the disk repair utility on my Jaguar install disk on the totally
updated Jaguar on the hard drive?

Disk repair you do booted from the CD; Repair Permissions you do from the updated system.
