There actually is a program called "DisableTigerFeatures" that supposedly turns off Dashboard and Spotlight. I am afraid to try it, but would like to hear from someone who does ;-). A guy who works for Apple (Petro) said in a different forum that they take up extremely little cpu or memory when not in use, so I bet it wouldn't be worth the risk. kj.

btw, the jump from Jag to Tiger was not worth it for me. My powerbook fan runs more often, and my wireless reception is clearly worse. Makes no sense, but it is true. Otherwise, I hardly notice a difference. Only pro for me, is that now I'm current, so I can use the newest versions of things.
