I actually wrote to these guys about remappability (sp?). Did they tell you
"no?" I never heard back.

I like the Adesso for the simple fact that you can get these in *black*:

$189 isn't that bad relative to what "ergonomic" keyboards can go for. And
you can get it in black!

The caveat with that keyboard, though, is: where is the warranty info? I
know it's there somewhere, but if they were confident about the build
quality, it would be stated *right there* without you having to dig for it.

I don't mind being overcharged for something, if needs must, but the
manufacturer needs to demonstrate a little faith in their product, too.

So the ErgoFlex wouldn't meet your needs?

I like how the nickel-and-diming never stops with these guys, even at these
prices. Want a USB port on the keyboard? That's another $10. Want two?
Nineteen! Can't they just throw them in at these price points?

The irony here is that these boards look very similar to:

If that guy doesn't deserve Mad Props...then NO ONE does.

Okay...scraping the bottom of the barrel here:

These 'boards don't have the split spacebar, but they *may* offer remappable
keys. AFAICT, you've hit every other manufacturer there is, so I thought I
would throw these guys out for completeness' sake. They do have a good
reputation for quality.

Price-wise, the "Happy Hacking Keyboard" ($119) and the "HHK Lite 2"
($69.00) would be your best bets if the keys do re-map and you're happy with
the layout. Otherwise, the "Professional" model is in the $250 range,
although it _does_ offer a variation on the "buckling spring" keyswitches
that make me such a slave to the Model M 'boards:

http://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/en/hhkeyboard/leaflet/keyspec.html#hhkbpro

And here, they break down each keyboard according to key life expectancy:

You know it's a serious keyswitch if it's rated for 30 million cycles.

If nothing else, I've found a source for a couple more of the EE Compaq
keyboards. I can shoot you the gen off-list and you can decide of you'd
want to bother getting them up or not (hint: they're not $2.50).

I don't know how much more strongly you prefer your Alps Glidepoint over the
Compaqs, though, or if you even do. I just haven't seen any of those
floating around.

Best,

James Fraser
