I purchased a G3 500 iMac for a school. I struck a problem when I
installed OS X on it with it booting which I have struck again -
problem is, I've forgotten how I fixed it first time around.
The children had made a movie some time back in iMovie so the
Firewire ports were definitely working. I went to show them how to
download to tape but it would not detect the camera. Looking under
the OSX equivalent of System Profiler, The Firewire ports showed No
Information found.
I did a reset of nvram, reset-all under Open Firmware as described by
an Apple Technician some time back and everything went fine.
Problem is, when it boots, the Apple symbol is larger on screen than
normal as it starts to boot, and when the swirly thing should start,
the apple symbol drops a quarter inch and thats it!
I have reset the CUDA and removed the battery to ensure a reset but
still no joy.
I wonder if this could be a Hard drive problem - stiction in the HD?
Any thoughts or suggestion from G listers would be much appreciated
Cheers
Howard
