Toothpaste will work to get the scratches out. Make sure that it is not a
paste as such by adding water to it. You are basicaly wet sanding the disk
with a very wet toothpaste solution. Make sure that you clean from center to
edge and not in a circular motion. Wash with clean water afterwards.
I haven't tried, but would expect something as simple as tooth paste to
work well? Have often used that as polisher on other scratched plastics
