Use the Apple System Profiler, located in the Apple Menu, to help Determine which logic board revision you have. Open Apple System Profiler, click the System Profile tab within the window, and then look at the Production Information section. Compare it to the table below to determine which revision of the logic board is in your Powe Macintosh G3 (platinum) computer.

ROM Versions Logic Board Revision
$77D,40F2 Revision 1
$77D,45F1 Revision 2
$77D,45F2 Revision 3

Note: All Power Mocintosh G3 All-in-one computers and (platinum) Power Macintosh G3 300Mhz and 333Mhz Desktop/Minitower computers have revision 2 or newer logic boards.

I couldn't find this info on my B&W in X, but when I ran Classic I was able to extract the Production information. Mine reads $77D,45F6, which doesn't fit any of these. Actually, I think this info is specific to Beige Mini-Towers, Desktops, and All-In-Ones. BTW I found this is on the LEM info page on the B&W's: "To distinguish the Rev. 1 and Rev. 2 logic boards, check the number printed on the CMD chip at location U1. On Rev. 1 boards, the number is PCI646U2. On Rev. 2, it will read 646US-402."

Here's how you can tell if you have what logic board you currently have in your Blue & White G3: Check the number printed on the CMD chip at location U1. The CMD chip on Rev. 1 logic boards is PCI646U2 and on Rev. 2 logic boards is 646U2-402. To find the location of the CMD chip on the logic board, click on the graphic on the item page. It is clearly identified there.
