Well Doug I want to thank you for the information you provided, but
right after I sent the e-mail to the list requesting information on my
problem the monitor up and died, this was connected to my 400mhz
PwrMacG4 Sawtooth with 701mb of ram 80 gig WD ide hard drive 64mb vram
running OS X.3.9. So my question was answered instantly. I guess I'll
be
looking for a new monitor. i am now using my B&W rev2 400mhz G3 with
1gig of ram 120gig SATA hard drive 64mb of vram OS X.3.9

Unless the flyback or the drive circuitry is shot you can still do the
check-up.
IMPORTANT:
The High Voltage and the CRT can retain a charge for many days, and
they need to be discharged prior to any investigation.
