I recently installed a slave ATA drive and I used a 24" cable I bought at
Radio Shack. I've had no problems and it seems to be working fine.

I retired the floppy and moved a SCSI drive there with the CD below it. The
ATA drives occupy the bottom two bays.

I have wondered what the ATA spec says on cable length but have been too
busy and lazy to hunt it down and read it.
