Change your hub from USB to Ethernet and everything should work just
fine.

Your instructions would have him end up with two computers connected
to an ethernet hub and a printer connected to nothing, since the G85
only comes with a usb port.

Well for my spectacularly poor advice, you can get a ethernet hub (if
you don't already have one) on eBay for $0.01 and you can also get an
usb to ethernet converter for $0.01
Check out what it will cost you for an USB Switch.
I'm sorry for suggesting a very cheap why, but very spectacularly poor
way to accomplish your needs.
