Well, I had forgotten about the amazing TAM, but digging around the
references posted, I thoroughly enjoyed the site showing the
development of the system, with a number of interim designs. Although
it was produced in 1997, there sure are some future design hints (think
iMac G5) in the brief presentation at
http://tam.axon.net/spartintro.htm.
I also learned that while it was initially offered at $10,000 that
included delivery to your door by limousine, with set-up by a
tuxedo-clad tech. Nobody touches Apple for flair! Then the regular,
store price was $7,500, and then it fell to about $2,000. Now, it's a
hot collectible--what a history.
And I had totally forgotten about the 1993 PowerCD. Obviously Jobs and
company have been looking for a way to jump into music devices for a
long time...
