Why? I upgraded an iMac G3/500 from its original OS 9.0.4 to 9.1,
then to 9.2.1, then to 9.2.2, all via free downloads (I've got DSL
broadband, which helped since these are not trivial updates) from the
Apple website. Of course, if you don't have broadband access, go for
the pricey 9.2.2 disk on eBay.
