Thanks to everybody for your advice. I have downloaded the tester Nancy recommended and have successfully tested the first of the four chips through 1000+ passes. I'm about to switch to the second one, and am curious. Do I need to disconnect all of the cables from the back of the machine each time I open it and switch chips? I'm using an anti-static wrist strap. (I know this must sound lazy...)
