< Upgrading to 9.2.2 is a very GOOD idea. Just the responsiveness is what
sold me on it. 9.2.2 happens to be nearly as fast as MacOS 8.6, compared
to the sluggishness of 9.1... Also, some programs need the extra security
features of 9.2.2 and won't run under 9.2.1 or older. Case in point, MSN
Messenger 2.5.1. Won't work on anything older. Granted, few people use
it, but, those of us who do, have also discovered a more responsive
Finder.>

I definitely agree with you about the speed and responsiveness of 9.2.2,
but 8.6 being fast, no, sorry. At the advice of the Powerbook list, I
updated my 5300c from 8.5 to 8.6 and the only advantage I got was being
able to use Appleworks 6 (I wanted to do that because AW 6 is what I use
on the G3). It makes my life a lot easier to be able to use the same
version of Appleworks on both Macs now so I don't regret the update, but
OS 8.6 doesn't boot any faster than 8.5 did, and the Finder isn't any
snappier either.
