Would this 466MHz G4 processor from Daystar Technology be worth buying
to upgrade my B&W 300MHz Rev 1 G3?

I'd have to say yes. Daystar's XLR8 upgrades are the cream of the crop (and if you ever consider buying new I can tell you that Larry runs a class operation). This particular used ZIF is complete with all original materials, so it would be nearly as good as buying new. A G4/466 w/1 MB cache will give a HUGE performance boost over your current G3/300 w/512K...especially if you intend to run OS X.

And how much should I bid up to?

This is a much more subjective issue. I wouldn't spend more than the equivalent of $100 US (including shipping) for that ZIF. The current US price for that 466 is $99 + $15 Priority Mail postage. I just bought a new Daystar G4/550 on ebay and paid $147.50 shipped; that's a savings of more than $25 US compared to just ordering the same product from their online store. I don't know whether Larry sells and ships internationally; check the website first for info before you bid: http://4daystar.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2
