This is a much more subjective issue. I wouldn't spend more than the
equivalent of $100 US (including shipping) for that ZIF. The current
US price for that 466 is $99 + $15 Priority Mail postage. I just
bought a new Daystar G4/550 on ebay and paid $147.50 shipped; that's a
savings of more than $25 US compared to just ordering the same product
from their online store. I don't know whether Larry sells and ships
internationally; check the website first for info before you bid:

Fair enough. Hmm, he charges shipping to Western Europe nearly triple
that for shipping to Eastern Europe - that's a little surprising
considering shipping to Western Europe should be cheaper/easier than
Eastern Europe:
Europe (East) - DHL 2 Day PM: $37.51
Europe (West) - DHL 4 Day PM: $91.67
I'm going to assume he got both mixed up, and will take shipping of
$37.51, as $91 for shipping a processor to the UK is a bit steep. That
doesn't gurantee customs charging an insane amount of tax (like they
always do) so that's a total of $136.51 which translates into £76.10.
So I might make a bid of around £65 ($116). Postage is only 3 quid
($5.38) so £68 ($121) sounds fair to me... no? Don't forget Mac stuff
in the UK costs far more than in the US. Hmm, there's an eBay auction
selling an OWC 500MHz CPU in the US for $99 buy it now.
OTOH, Daystar sells an ATI Radeon 7000 for $99 as well, which I highly
doubt that I would be able to obtain in the UK easily. But then again,
a completed auction sold it for £30 ($53.80) so if I wait and one crops
up on eBay, it'd be good. Hmm, found a few US auctions selling it for
$55 - so Daystar's prices are quie steep for this card.
My main sticking point is postage and customs. Wish I knew someone in
the US who'd repost it for me slapping "Gift" on the green card to try
and avoid customs tax ;)
