B&W Rev 1, OS9.2, Eudora 6.0

This has happened to me before, possibly due to a different cause (can't remember)...

Today a houshold circuitbreaker popped while I was loading my e-mail. On rebooting I got the message to say that the mailboxes had been messed up and did I want to rebuild them? I clicked yes... and suddenly found well over ten THOUSAND messages from the last 5 months, long trashed and emptied, in my In box.

There is now only one copy of Eudora on my system... so how can the hell can half a year's worth of messages just reappear? In addition, all the messages in the IN mailbox which I wanted to keep have also now a ? designation, making it not worth attempting to sort them out from the "deleted" mass!
