I have these 3 ATA drives Ive been trying to get to work with my system for a while now. 2 are 4.3GB eide or ata/33 drives, one given to me and one taken out of a Umax C600 mac clone. The other is a 40gb ata/66 refurbished IBM Deskstar I think, which was a little loud when I first got it. Ive formatted these drives with Disk Utility but still encounter problems, such as not mounting and freezing my system. And I have a 6GB OEM apple drive, which has not been defragged after a few years of OS 9 use. Understandably it shouldnt be reliable (and it isnt) but disk utility often reports on it that everything is
fine. So, any other (free) programs I should consider trying?

If they're unreliable after reformatting, the drives are going, the IDE interface is, or the cable's shot. And that IBM is the one they nicknamed the "DeathStar" iirc.
