They can be converted to Mac cards so that they'll be bootable in OS 9 and below, but as far as I know, there's no way to make them bootable in OSX. You see, Adaptec never provided OSX firmware for the 2940UW. So, in OS9, there's OS9 (and below) firmware for the cards, which can be installed with minor gymnastics. In OSX, there are drivers (apparently) built into OSX which let the AIC-7880 (the SCSI chip on the 2940UW) chip operate after the OS has loaded (and loaded the driver).
