Since getting my system back up and running, I am now experiencing problems under Mac OS X.
Drag-and-drop is not working within certain applications anymore, such as Toast 6. I cannot drag files from the Finder into Toast, and if I add files to my Toast session manually using the "add" button, I cannot drag them within the Toast window to rearrange their order. This behavior is exhibited in select other applications as well, but not in others. Apple System Profiler and one or two other apps now crash immediately upon starting them up. System Preferences crashes and "unexpectedly quits" consistently when you try to change certain settings. Looking at the system error log under Console reveals a system-wide problem that shows up with each and every application launched, and is undoubtedly the cause of all this weirdness: "[411]: Lookup of pbs in "com.apple Services Server" failed!" This error appears in the Console log immediately upon starting each and every application or process I try. There are no other errors listed at all when the applications crash or quit. Apparently this is manifested different ways depending on the application, with some of them crashing, some unexpectedly quitting, and some not letting you drag-and-drop. So my questions are: what is "com.apple Services Server"? What is "pbs"? What is "411"? I assume it is an error code, but what does the code mean? And what are my options as far as fixing this? For those of who read/contributed to my thread yesterday about forcing OS X to actually boot, this all began after I got OS X going again and ran DiskWarrior on my drive to repair tons of "Overlapped file extent", "Keys out of order" and "Incorrect block count" errors. DiskWarrior reported the fix process was successful, but now I am experiencing the weirdness described above and my system is basically useless for a good number of tasks until I can fix this. My guess is some of the overlapped files were vital system files that were a part of this "Services Server" that got scrapped when DiskWarrior did it's thing. I would really like to not have to re-install OS X. Anyone with good technical understanding of OS X behind-the-scenes? Thanks -Nat -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
