Is PayPal safe to use? Any experience?
I was recently asked by a Swaplister why I don't accept credit cards
via PayPal.
My response:
In order to accept credit card payments I would have to
"upgrade" to a Premier or Business account and pay fees on every
transaction. This would also require that I directly link a bank
account to PayPal; this policy puts the account holder at extreme risk
with no protection.
Just a mo! I have been paid by credit card via Paypal (the main
reason I use it!) and have not had to link it in any way to a
bank account.. so I don't think you have this right here, Gene.
Sure, when someone pays by credit card (not other ways) one has
to pay a small percentage but compared to setting up a credit
card facility via your bank or other means on the web, this is
truly small beer...

Hmmm I think you DO have to have some sort of bank account so you can
get your money from your paypal account when you've sold something.
What i did to circumvent my fears of someone hacking paypal and
bleeding my main checking account dry was to get one of those free
checking accounts, you know you get a nice gift on top of it, and keep
$20 or so in it. Hook that account up to paypal and then transfer any
funds you get after transferring your paypal $ to your main account, I
can do it via the web, easy peasy.
