I know this isn't what you want to hear, but: is there even a point in
contacting Apple? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't dumping water on a
keyboard come under the heading of "user abuse" and _not_ come under any
Apple warranty, extended or otherwise?

As I said, though, correct me if I'm wrong. It's just that companies seem
to do what they can to weasel out of warranties under the *best* of
circumstances. I remember a recent post to the Swap List where someone said
that Apple wouldn't honor their extended warranty on their imac because the
poster hadn't "dotted their i's." Unfortunately, that seems par for the
course for these things.

With the price of petrol being what it is, why not post on the Swap List for
"a USB keyboard?" From what you had posted about the notch in the USB
extender, it sounded like the keyboard you had was crippled in functionality
_anyway_.

A while back, I needed an Ethernet cable and didn't want to spend much on
it. After some hunting around, I was able to get a cable, brand-new,
shipped to my door for $2, total. If you're willing to put some effort into
it, you could prolly find a cut-rate keyboard.

Best,
