I just want to clarify what kind of memory I have. I thought I had
3 PC133 CL2 and a PC100 CL2. Turns out I have (according to ASP) a
PC100-322S, and a PC100-222S. Both say CL2 on the memory so I know
those are CL2. The next 2 are listed as PC133-333, but do not specify
CL2 or CL3 on the memory. Does that mean they are definitely CL3?

The speed codes, 3-2-2 and 2-2-2, have nothing to do with the Column Address Strobe Latency (CAS or CL). Simplified, the former is an indication of how often the DIMM feeds the bus once an operation is in progress, the later is an indication of how long it takes for the DIMM to respond to a request in the first place. Water flowing into the sink vs waiting for the water to burble thru the pipes when you first turn the valve on.

About the only way to really view all the specs on a DIMM is to look up the stick's part number on the manufacturer web site.

As to CL2 vs CL3... Unless the system's specs tell you that a specific latency is required, AFAIK, Apple's memory controllers just don't care. CAS is a *lag* in the initial response of the DIMM. 2 clock cycles vs 3. The controller issues a command then just waits - when the DIMM responds, it responds. That's all there is to it.

More importantly are the speed codes. Apple doesn't seem to use the ultra-generic memory controllers that PC manufacturers like. So you MUST match the speed codes to the specs for your system. Most of the specs I've looked at require either 3-2-2 (slowest), 3-2-2, or 2-2-2 (fastest). But again - check the specs for specific model Mac to see what's required/permitted.

FWIW,
- Dan.
