Thanks Alex, and Fabian too. It appears to me, from looking at all the G4 specs, that there were two versions of the Mirror Drive Door G4, and the second version (the 1.4 GHz model) is not capable of booting into OS-9 like the earlier 1.25 GHz version can. Is that correct, does anybody know?

Also, someone told me that OS-X 10.4 and up will not allow rebooting into 9 by ANY Mac. Can anyone running 10.4 confirm or deny that?

Tom

I am writing this on a MDDP ( Mirror Door Dual Processor ) 1.25 GHZ , 800 Firewire Mac . It does not boot to OS 9 . But......... I do not miss OS 9 even though I was of the laggers in moving up to OS X. I have plenty of software that needs to be run with os9 and does so very well under classic. I do not need to boot directly to os9. However, I am fastly unloading all that SW to people who are even more stubborn than I. Most of them run sawtooths and are very happy with the speed which they can run os9 on them. All models previous to the Firewire 800 models ( Macs that only have firewire 400 ) can boot to os9.
