Although the immediate cost on your ISP bill isn't there, I think the
previous discussion shows that it *could* cost you in the long run.
And if it was someone with an infected system or a spammer or someone
of that ilk they could be sucking up all your available bandwidth in
no time. So the analogy is not too far fetched.
(OT: I've been amazed for years by how un-secure the phone system is.
It may have tightened up since 9/11 - I haven't had cause to check -
but it really would take very little for anyone to tap into a phone
line and call wherever they'd like on someone else's nickel.)
