I have an HP 970Cse DeskJet, a Konica-Minolta Color Laser and an
Epson CX5400 InkJet. All of them print just fine from Appleworks,
Word, textedit, fill-in-the-blank. They're all networked and print
from any computer in the house. Virginia, what specifically is the
problem that you're having? Brian, it was my understanding that
Samsung was no longer going to be supporting Apple.

Tim, the real problem I'm having is with HP - they don't seem to think it is
a problem that their printer doesn't print properly with Appleworks. I've
trashed and reinstalled drivers and done everything usually done to fix this
at the advice of lots of folks, but the bottom line is, HP admits it doesn't
work and they don't care.

Since this subject is off topic really, I've got advice elsewhere, and I'm
not asking for advice here, and I've found my workaround that USUALLY works,
but just a warning FYI-

I've talked to Appleworks user groups and this may not be true for all HP
printers, but regular oddities crop up with Appleworks and HP printers. I
now have my other printer back from warrantee repair and can afford some
time to mess around with the backup HP 3845 I bought. In every program
EXCEPT Appleworks it USUALLY prints just fine. Though it sometimes asks
about page orientation, I do not really have to go back to page setup, nor
do I have to save first, but I just say ok and ask it to print again and it
usually does so in my usual Portrait Letter orientation. As for AW, despite
trashing and reinstalling drivers etc. etc., usually the way I get it to
print is to go to page setup and select orientation, save, close document,
reopen, reselect page orientation, and WAIT WAIT WAIT doing NOTHING on the
computer for about 2 minutes, then ask it to print and it does so. The HP
help phone folks says this is a problem with AW and they are not interested
in helping. I won't buy HP again, even if I find a printer that works with
AW because I don't think they'll help if I have other problems. Their
attitude is a problem for me.
