OSX LISTED AS A TOP VULNERABILITY AMONG UNIX OPERATING SYSTEMS
Well it wasn't the headline, nor was it in all caps.
Exerpt from:
ONLINE CRIMINALS SHIFT FOCUS OF ATTACK
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10147557/
The group's "SANS Top20" report identifies the 20 most
targeted software flaws that criminals use to infiltrate computers.
FWIW, you can see the actual report here:
<http://www.sans.org/top20/>
It shows a long and scary list of things that Apple has already
fixed...and the majority of those require local access to the system
to exploit.
Basically their advice is "Run Software Updater regularly and choose
hard passwords." Good solid advice.
They basically *ignored* all other Unix systems other than OS X,
which is a compliment, I guess, implying that OS X is the most widely
deployed Unix OS on the planet. They also don't talk about whether
these vulnerabilities were ever exploited. There are still no
circulating viruses or attacks for OS X, hence, I doubt they're being
exploited.
