My USB powered VST Tri-Media reader gives me the following message when I plug it into a port on my D-Link DUB-H7 USB hub:

"The USB device 'AU9254 HUB' cannot operate because it needs more power than is available.
To correct this problem, you can:

1) Plug this device into an electrical outlet if it has a power cord.
2) Unplug the device and plug it into another USB port on your computer or other device that is plugged into a power cord."

I have a Kodak Camera dock plugged in (working), a Lexmark 5150 AIO plugged in (working), and an Epson Perfection 1240 scanner plugged in (working).

My machine is a G4 Sawtooth.

Is this message telling me I need a powered floppy drive? Or what?

Several other list members, and myself, have suggested that you use a powered USB hub. It now appears that you do have a powered hub. In any case, the VST Tri-Media Reader was designed to run on bus power. Mine has always worked well with or without a powered USB hub, also on a "G4 Sawtooth."

Have you downloaded and installed its OS X driver from the SmartDisk.com (successor to VST) website as follows? <http://sdkbase.smartdisk.com/display/2n/index.asp? c=cpc=e72ylkXWR8u0YnrbMviY&cpc=&cid=1&r=0.5333521>
