Major disadvantage. PCI slots are much slower than an AGP slot.
A 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI bus has a bandwidth of about 508.6 MBytes/sec.
An AGP 4x slot has a bandwidth of about 1,017.3 MBytes/sec.
But I'm confused. What upgrades are you talking about that go into a PCI
slot would require you to use a video card in a PCI slot?
OWC is selling an ATI Radeon 9200 PCI card with 128MB of VRAM for
$129. Apparently I would not gain anything by this upgrade,
apparently it would not even be an upgrade. I am not a gamer so I
don't want to spend $260 for the 9800 AGP card.
It seems that I will be best off to stay with what I have. Thanks for
the feedback (and saving me some dough).
