Chris Placzek writes, <There is a large chip on the motherboard, the largest other than the processor. The last numbers on it are either 66 or 83. If they are 83 you can safely run your computer at 83MHz bus and 375MHz CPU (PCI would stay 33MHz).>
We will definitely check on this when we open the G3 to install the new processor. I called my bf last night to tell him about this thread I started and your comments, and until I told him what you (and Ross) had said about this, he didn't know the BUS could be overclocked like that. Now that he does, he's hoping we'll find an "83" on that Grackle chip. Dylan writes, <Definitely, but make sure you have PC100 or better RAM. I wouldn't trust PC66 at 83mhz.> Yes, my G3's RAM is definitely PC100. Thank you for this info, Chris and Dylan (also, Dylan, I bookmarked the instructional web page you sent the link to so we'll have it when we need it). Also, thank you, Ross for your additional comments. ~Yersinia. ________ Charlie was a chemist, But Charlie is no more.
