This is probably the 9 pin D connector. AppleTalk does use RS422 comm
levels on serial ports. The pinout from the older Macs - 128k - are
probably in use but there is no standard pinout for RS422.

If you can come up with the pin assignments for the RS422 connector
it's pretty easy to pick up an Apple serial cable and cut one end
off. Soldering to the pins on a 9 pin D connector is not so hard.

Google for the printer part number and get the pin assignments.

I have an NEC document that has a schematic labeled "LC 890 RS-422 Serial Interface Pin Assignments." It shows two boxes, one labeled "Printer" and the other labeled "Controller (Macintosh), with seven lines connecting numbers in the two boxes. Is this what you're talking about, and if it is what do I do with the information?
