I'm searching for higher audio fidelity for my new eMac.
I think the H/K iSub subwoofer looks cool and probably
sounds better. I have read that it is designed to work
with certain iMacs. Does it plug & play well with eMacs
    like mine?

Thanks to all who helpfully replied. Another answer came from an eBay
seller of an iSub, who said:

I have used it with 3 different Mac configurations
(Powerbook, QuickSilver, and old iMac) and all worked
seamlessly. I do not have an eMac to try it with but I
am highly confident it would work.

I am stoked.
