Hi Chris,
Yeah that was me on the list who had the very bad experience with two
Powerlogix G4 900 processors in my Sawtooth. OWC was going to send
me a 1 gHz model but then I also read on the XLR8YourMac site that
this version was equally problematic on some Sawtooths. It was
basically a bad batch as the early ones didn't seem to cause such
problems. So if you can find an early version, you might get lucky.
I guess there were also about 7 different versions of the Sawtooth
AGP (according to OWC), so they could not test the processor on each
one.
I think OWC has since stopped selling both the 900 and 1 gHz models.
As far as I know, these were the only ones that cause such problems.
As for the level of corruption. MASSIVE! Total Destruction. On my
drive, over 160,000 files were overlapped with the first processor.
Not something fun. Extremely difficult to repair. Choked
Diskwarrior several times before partial success. Other utilities
the same. The second processor kept crashing the machine.

As I previously mentioned, I had also received an email from Larry
O'conner, owner of OWC informing me that they have stopped selling
that version to anyone who owns a Sawtooth.
Aside from the G4 900 and 1 ghz models, you should have good luck
with other speeds but read through the posts just to verify.
