Yes it's possible.

If the card won't run at the slower speed on it's own, you will have to
tape a few pins.  I can't seem to find the link on www.xlr8yourmac.com on
which pins to tape (full article delt with modifiying an AGP 8x Pro card),
so you will have to look.
