I'd guess many models of Intel-based Macs will be ANNOUNCED but
actual delivery will be promised for 2Q06 and later in some cases.
But prototypes will be shown and demoed and there will be lots of
ahhs, oohs and applause.
I believe the first Mactel to be available will be a new Mac Mini.
There are no performance pressures associated to it.
And perhaps Apple will announce a joint-venture with Intel and
perhaps others that goes beyond Mactels and motherboards.
I'll go further and say all G4 systems will be slated to be replaced
with Intel CPUs simultaneously. Intel *already* has chips that'll
spank the current line, particularly for battery life, and as I said,
notebook sales are the majority of new computer sales industry wide,
and Powerbooks have ALWAYS been a big part of Apple's bottom line.
Moreover then engineering for the Mini, the iBooks and Powerbooks is
not all that different. The Mini is really just a laptop mobo folded
up into a smaller package.
