<Just wanted to let you all know that my G3 problems were
solved, and the G3 is now working after 1 1/2 months down!>

CONGRATULATIONS! :-) Boy, you must feel wonderful! :-) I know I will
when my own G3 comes back. It's been gone just over a week so far. But,
there's been SOME progress...as of yesterday, my bf just found a new mobo
for it with an 83 Grackle, plus an AV card, and has read all the G-list
responses I forwarded to him concerning questions he had and suggestions
about what went wrong in our failed attempt to upgrade it.

<I actually don't yet know whether or not the old HD is
still good, and I'll check it at a later date, but I'm
happy to be able to email at home instead of at work!

I had had problems with an HD, so I got a new one from
ebay, then was getting a blinking question mark when trying
to boot from the OS 9 CD. A fellow G-lister offered to
help me by phone and we went through a few things - turns
out that since my CD-RW drive was set to slave and was on
its own cable, it wouldn't boot up. Set it from slave to
master, and it was happy.>

I hope you backed up all your data. Is your new HD the same size or
bigger than the old one? If so, then maybe, since the new one is known
good, you can just switch permanently. At least, that's what I'd do if I
had questions about functionality of the original HD and I had a new one
I knew was good, and was at least the same size. However, I'm glad that
in my case, I know the HD and the CD-RW drive are good and were set
properly.

Well, congrats once again, and have fun with your G3! :-)

~Yersinia.
