>From what I can tell, stock values are largely based on public _perception_ of how well a company is doing, versus how it might *actually* be doing. While Apple's stock value has indeed gone up, I'm not convinced that Jobs deserves quite *all* of the credit for this. It strikes me as tantamount to the President taking the credit (or blame) for how the American economy is doing. There's simply more to the equation than one person making a set of decisions. Besides which: regardless of how much money you earn, it doesn't cost you anything to be pleasant. I guess that's the biggest mystery to me: all that money and Jobs somehow can't afford to be a Nice Guy, too? [shrugs] > I am hanging on to most announcements, not every word. I guess what I fail to understand is why one can't simply wait 24 hours, then calmly take a look at what was said. Why the Urgent Need to keep pace with events As They Develop? I guess this might well be another one of those "because we can"-type things: Fellow #1: How can I monitor MacWorld in real time? Fellow #2: Why would you feel the need to do that? All the decisions/products will make themselves felt soon enough, won't they? [chorus suddenly appears out of nowhere]: BECAUSE WE CAN!!! I guess this "trying to understand human beings" wheeze isn't quite as straightforward as I hoped it would be. McCoy: Please, Spock, do me a favour, and don't say it's "fascinating"! Spock: No, but it is... interesting. Hey, it _is_ Geek Week after all... ^_^ Best, James Fraser -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
