A couple of important tips before installing X on your B/W:

1. The firmware in your machine probably needs an upgrade. Check with Apple.com

2. OSX is more demanding on the specs of RAM. Chips that worked OK in OS9 might not work at all (or create lots of incomprehensible problems and instabilities) with OSX. Google for "DIMM First Aid", a little program that checks whether your RAM is OK for X

After that, all you have to do is insert your 10.2 CD and click the installer icon! You won't regret it, though 10.3 is much faster and more mature if you can get hold of a copy. Good luck!
